Single Idea 15806

[from 'Person and Object' by Roderick Chisholm, in 9. Objects / F. Identity among Objects / 5. Self-Identity ]

Full Idea

I wish to urge that the property of being identical with me is an individual concept.

Gist of Idea

The property of being identical with me is an individual concept

Source

Roderick Chisholm (Person and Object [1976], 1.4)

Book Reference

Chisholm,Roderick: 'Person and Object' [Open Court 1976], p.28

A Reaction

I can just about live with the claim (for formal purposes) that I am identical with myself, but I strongly resist my then having a 'property' consisting of 'being identical with myself' (or 'not being identical with somone else' etc.).
